CISDI’s standout innovations for digital green steel

Date:2023/12/22 Source: CISDI

CISDI unveiled six transformative products designed to help steel companies transition to digital and green manufacture at the Technological Innovation and Talent Conference in Chongqing.

These new developments solve longstanding production problems and empower the conversion of conventional manufacturing to digital and green.

Carbon footprint management platform 1.0 throughout project’s full life-cycle

15 per cent of China’s carbon discharge comes from ferrous metallurgy - more than any other manufacturing industry in the country.

CISDI’s carbon footprint management platform facilitates the automatic online collection of hundreds of kinds of data and builds models based on calculations to different process settings. It generates carbon mapping and carbon calculation, footprint and analysis.

A wide range of expert resources is pooled offline to evaluate carbon reduction methods and recommend feasible, economical and optimal solutions.

       CISDI-SuperARC EAF

Conventional full scrap-charged electric furnaces are inefficient in energy utilisation, are high energy consumers and are heavy polluters.

They can be transformed with the SuperARC’s toolkit of green, carbon reduction tech - cascade continuous charging and preheating, highly-efficient melting, smart control, excess heat recycling and exhaust control.

A SuperARC-applied plant in China has reduced its carbon emissions by at least 30 per cent per tonne of crude steel, and other Chinese plants are recording leading indicators.

SuperARC has been awarded over 40 invention patents and a further 90 have been applied for. The invention has gained nine software copyrights.

       CISDigital® industrial internet platform 3.0

The CISDigital® industrial internet platform has launched at a time of growing demand for digital and smart applications.

It synergises a number of emerging technologies - internet of things, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence - with industrial mechanism, process model and industrial operations.

The platform controls over 2,000 applications spanning nine major areas, including safe production, energy conservation and emissions reduction, quality control, supply chain management, research design, manufacturing, business management, warehouse and logistics and ops management.

89 patents have been granted to the platform and since version 1.0 was released in 2018, its products and solutions have been applied in 31 Chinese provincial administrative regions.

The platform has been sought-out by over 100 benchmark enterprises across 18 industries - from mining to ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, the chemical industry and the construction sector.

Platform-based products and solutions have been implemented globally, creating US$688 million in annual benefits for CISDI’s customers.

       CGC ZnAlMg-plating tech 2.0

Creating a stronger, corrosion-resistant, longer-serving product has become the main method for reducing carbon emissions.

CISDI’s patented ZnAlMg-plating (CISDI colour coating) line products give a high standard of corrosion prevention and strip edge protection. The longer service life of the ZnAlMg-plated strip minimises loss and consumption of materials and energy during production.

The ZnAlMg-plating line 2.0 effectively resolves corrosion from chloride ion and ammonia, resulting in a ten-fold stronger corrosion resistance compared with that of common galvanised (Zn-plated) strip.

       UMCD® universal mill

Manufacturing advanced core equipment is pivotal to high-quality industrial development.

CISDI’s universal mill (UMCD) features a closed housing and has won 17 patents for invention and 22 patents for utility.

The UMCD has enabled China to develop its first light rail and heavy rail production lines.
