During the Chinese Lunar New Year, CISDI chairman Xuewen Xiao paid a visit to Zenith Nantong Steel’s landmark green project.

As head of the project, he paid tribute to all CISDI staff who were working onsite during the festival period.

Over 80 members of the managerial and engineering teams gave up their holiday period to support construction of the coal and ore yards, ironmaking, steelmaking and central water treatment plants.

After arriving in Nantong City Mr Xiao went directly to the site to inspect the coal yard and central water treatment plant and thanked the workers.

On behalf of the company, I greatly appreciate you continuing your tasks during China’s New Year festivities, said Mr Xiao.

“Over the last year you have devoted your time, energy and solutions at every milestone of this project.”

Mr Xiao encouraged staff to continue their commitment to meet contract targets and also met with Zenith vice chairman Yiping Gao, MCC 1’s chairman Zhanjiang Song and MCC 17’s chairman Shigong Yu to discuss project schedules, status and solutions.

On Lunar New Year’s Eve, a CISDI ‘family union dinner’ was staged in the Nantong Steel canteen. Mr Xiao attended and gave a toast to the New Year and the continuing health and prosperity of employees and their families.

The following day, the CISDI team, which is tasked with EPC-based services, met at the steelmaking office. Xiao put forward the requirements for the year ahead.

The most urgent task is the construction of the pipeline network before the rainy season hits the coastal area, which could lead to postponements.

Said Mr Xiao: ‘Our project managers have organised construction teams comprising over 1,000 people to push on with critical tasks and catch up with schedules. You are the cornerstone of this site’s services.”
