China’s most advanced bar rolling line starts up

China’s most advanced dual high-speed bar rolling line 1 has gone into operation at Xusteel in Jiangsu Province.

This star demo project relied entirely on Chinese strengths – CISDI was responsible for the design, manufacturing and integration of the line’s core process, equipment and control.

Construction began last April. CISDI dispatched a specialist team which met all milestones - despite the pandemic, unexpected and protracted storms and complicated construction conditions.

Line 2 has also been started up at the end of January.

Each line has an annual projected production capacity of 1.40 million tonnes, with CISDI as its EPC-based contractor.

CISDI’s core tech and equipment applied to the twin lines.

Achievements:

1) High-efficiency hot-charging, low-temperature rolling and TMCP technologies will result in cost-effective production of high-strength building bars.

2) The walking-beam reheating furnace, featuring dual-regenerative eco-friendly combustion expertise and intelligent burning control model, will reduce fuel consumption and improve production capacity.

3) Bar rolling will feature a high-precision, low-cutting-loss and high-efficiency process, thanks to standardised star mill products installed for the lines – the NHCD high-rigidity short-stress path rolling mill, CDMC ultra-heavy-duty, high-speed modular mill, FSCD flying shears and high-speed bar loading systems.

4) Final bars will have accurate, efficient finishing and collection due to the fast stepping cooling bed, large-tonnage cold shears, automatic counting and bundling machines.
