Smooth progress made for Masteel silos

Masteel’s Phase II silo project is under construction, with CISDI as its EPC-based contractor.

Phase I and II were launched to meet a necessary production capacity of three million tonnes of coke per annum.

Phase I’s completion at the end of last year minimised the effect the COVID-19 pandemic has had on logistics and ensured the entire plant is running with continual production. It is currently supplying an additional 100,000 tonnes of coals towards Masteel’s coking demands.

Each phase requires ten enclosed silos, each with a diameter of around 21 metres and a height of 48.5 metres, and their auxiliary systems. The silos play an integrated storage and distribution function. A single silo’s storage capacity is 10,000 tonnes a year.

CISDI’s patented tech and equipment are key features of the silos – clean production, intelligent, green dumping, mist dust suppression and chain cable power supply system; disc feeder and 10kV reactive power compensator.

The modernised silos are creating remarkable environmental, economic and social benefits:

Green: Raw coals are directly charged into the silos, avoiding pollution of the open-air stock yard area and improving air and water in the surrounding area.

Energy saving and consumption reduction: Closed storage reduces coal losses from wind and rain and reduces land use.

Efficiency enhancement: Automated transport and distribution of coals improves accuracy and efficiency and reduces labour and costs.

Safety: Tar residues and biochemical sludges are recycled. Safety factors are fully considered for equipment selections. Duties at hazard points are carried out by automaton.
