Yanshan Steel plant-wide ZLD starts up

Date:2017/12/6 Source: CISDI

Yanshan Steel has started up a plant-wide zero liquid discharge project with a pre-treatment capacity of 40,000m3/d., engineered by CISDI.

The plant’s water treatment and drainage volumes had increased because Yanshan had needed to install new production units after adjusting its production capacity pattern. CISDI designed a solution - a new water treatment plant which replaced the water regulation and treatment functions of the tailings warehouse and predicted additional waste water treatment.

It lessened the need for fresh water throughout the plant and provided source water for deep processing in the plant.

The design included the rebuild of the lifting pump for waste water pump pit, regulating pre-settling tank (de-oiling and coagulation and flocculation tank) and high-density settling tank, landscaping the lake and pump house, rainwater collection tank, supportive sludge treatment system, dosing system and related electric and automation, instrumentation, thermals, general layout, pipeline and roadway systems.

The project at Yanshan Steel marked another successful application of CISDI’s ZLD technology. Baosteel Bayi Steel (EPC), Hebei Jingye (EPC) and Baosteel Zhanjiang (E) are already showcasing this technology and proving the technology’s leading role in steel plant’s ZLD and rainwater collection and comprehensive utilisation.

Yanshan Steel started up its plant-wide zero liquid discharge (ZLD) project; CISDI undertook the engineering design with a pre-treatment capacity of 40,000m3/d.

The scope of design covered rebuild of the lifting pump for waste water pump, regulating pre-settling tank (deoiling and coagulation and flocculation tank), high-density settling tank, landscaping lake and pump house, rainwater collection tank, supportive sludge treatment system, dosing system, and related electric and automation, instrumentation, thermal, general layout, pipeline and roadway systems. Since the client had readjusted its production capacity pattern, the steel plant had to be installed new production units and consequently the plant-wide water treatment and drainage volumes would be increased. Deeply understanding the client’s plan, CISDI adopted the design concept of accommodating various users’ requirements. The new water treatment plant could replace the original tailings warehouse regulation and treatment capacity and reserve the necessary capacity of additional waste water treatment. It moderated the burden on plant-wide fresh water demand and could provide qualified source water for deep processing in the plant.

This is another successful application of CISDI ZLD technology following Baosteel Bayi Steel (EPC), Hebei Jingye (EPC) and Baosteel Zhanjiang (E). They are all showcasing CISDI’s leading position in steel plant’s ZLD and rainwater collection and comprehensive utilisation.
