State-of-the-art wire-rod rolling units supplied by CISDI are helping a Taiwan steel specialist achieve a world-leading rolling speed of 140 metres per second.

Product precision control to within plus and minus 0.1mm, is also being achieved.

The units are now operational at Yieh Hsing Enterprise Co under E United Group, which is based in Pingnan County in Taiwan.

They form part of the revamp of the company’s stainless-steel wire-rod and BIC line.

Some existing equipment was reused, a new reducing and sizing mill and BIC production line have been installed and the original thermomechanical control process system, pinch roll and laying head, coil finishing and collection system have been upgraded.

After the BIC line starts up in 2024, the combined wire rod and BIC production capacity will hit 450,000 tonnes a year, an increase of 15,000tpy.

Wire-rod is being produced in specifications ranging from 5.5 to 20mm in diameter. BIC line product specifications will range from 14 to 38mm.

Steel grades produced are mainly be quality carbon steel, alloy structural steel and free-cutting steel plus austenite, martensite and ferrite stainless steels.

High-speed, super-precise wire-rod rolling has been achieved by the application of a CDMC reducing and sizing mill and WCS closed-loop, TMCP-based water-cooling system.

The CDMC features CISDI’s most advanced modular individual drive which, with its compact structures and flexible placement, achieves outstanding standards of speed, strength and stability.
