After a super-fast green rebuild taking just 102 days, Baosteel Desheng Stainless Steel Co’s blast furnace 2 was blown in and began tapping hot metal.
CISDI re-designed the furnace’s stockhouse, top, proper, tuyere platform and casthouse, slag granulation and raw gas cleaning systems, plus its fuel gas, water treatment and HVAC facilities.
The company supplied these facilities and refractories, and took charge of supply and commissioning of the furnace’s electric and automation control system.
Furnace 2’s new green tech and facilities:
ü innovative cooling staves and a thermal load inspection system added at the furnace proper will ensure a longer-serving, safer furnace
ü the existing casthouse has been modified to flat and enclosed, improving dust collection
ü a chimney added at the slag granulation system improves working conditions around the slag runner
ü a gas equalising and collection system added at the furnace top will clean more dusts from the new points
ü dust collection points added at the stockhouse to create a cleaner environment.
The rebuild required repurposing some existing equipment and structures, a complicated task which required multiple onsite surveys and in-depth communication with Baosteel Desheng.
Early preparations ensured the re-designs met all standards. The onsite technical assistance team worked closely with the construction company and Baosteel Desheng for every milestone, ensuring the furnace’s start-up went ahead smoothly.
