A CISDI-supplied high-speed wire-rod rolling line has been successfully hot commissioned at Shijiazhuang Steel.

The line adds high-end coils to the steel product range at Shijiazhuang Steel, which is part of the HBIS Group.

Around 400,000 tonnes of wire rods, in a specification range of Φ5.0mm to Φ28mm, will be produced annually.

The rods are of the high-grade quality required by the automobile, machinery and metalwork sectors.

Steel grades include alloy structural steel, bearing steel, spring steel, free-cutting steel, cord steel and tool steel.

The line has been built to a world-class standard and a number of CISDI’s core tech and equipment advancements have been applied to ensure a speed of 112 metres per second.

Core tech:

Billet surface coating tech prevents de-carbonisation

         Low-temperature start rolling

         Multi-stage descaling

         Induction uniform heating

         High-precision, closed-loop temperature-controlled cooling

Online dimensional and surface quality monitoring

Critical equipment:

High-rigidity NHCD short-stress path rolling mill

         FSCD flying shear.
