Zenith Nantong Steel’s blast furnace 3 has now been capped, pushing the project on to achieve a blow-in target of five months from now on.

A 400-tonne crawler crane put its last ring of shells in place.

Construction of the 2,300-cubic-metre furnace began in September 2020, when the first pre-stressed high-strength concrete pile was driven in, and was completed on-schedule in just 174 days.

It is now ready for the next stage - cooler installation, refractory building and pipework. The blow-in target will be fulfilled in five months.

CISDI’s team put safety and quality first and foremost and remained on-site to work throughout the Chinese New Year holiday period. Their organisation and coordination skills have ensured the project keeps to schedule.
