CISDI has built a new Chinese giant.
A heavy ladle turret weighing 520 tonnes, which can hold 350 tonnes of liquid steel, is the largest of its kind in China.
Designed and manufactured by CISDI, it will serve Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel’s ultra-thick slab caster 5 in the Guangdong Province.
The ladle turret recently passed its critical inspection and was delivered to the client.
It will play a decisive role in ensuring continuous casting and will dramatically boost Baosteel Zhanjiang’s casting productivity.
CISDI designed the ladle turret as a butterfly structure with a short link bar. Functions include operational and emergency rotating, lifting, weighing and locking.
The turret will receive the ladle at its middle position. It will rotate at its middle and upper positions and perform casting at its lower position.
Designed to be hydraulically actuated by a lifting stroke of 800 mm, it features two independent arms which enable an easy shroud installation and facilitate a tundish replacement. These design characteristics aim to achieve multi-heat sequence casting.
CISDI’s precise control of material selection and its advanced manufacturing, machining, assembling and testing abilities have resulted in the ladle turret meeting all design indicators.
“CISDI is our long-term partner. Its products represent the company’s constant drive for perfection - from design blueprints to equipment delivery. The ladle turret for our caster meets all critical inspection standards,” commented a representative of Zhanjiang Steel.
CISDI is now assisting with the ladle turret’s on-site assembly and commissioning.
